Falk College seeks a parttime instructor to teach SWK 601 M001 Fundamentals of Social Work Practice I 3 credits) in the Fall 2024 08/19/202412/10/2024 semester. Course Description: Preparation for beginning social work interventions. Theories of practice and rehearsal of problem solving and communication skills with individuals families and groups in client target and action systems. This course introduces direct practice in social work. Two frameworks inform course readings and discussions the generalist and ecological perspectives. These frameworks provide practical tools for assessing common challenges that social workers face in their practice. Through course readings students will learn to formulate effective interventions with clients and client systems. Students will engage in class exercises to develop direct practice skills when working with diverse communities. Fieldbased assignments will advance students conceptual grasp of the fundamentals of social work practice and build a foundation for advanced concentrations. Class meets Thursdays 6:309:15 PM EST .
Responsibilities
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. Submitting completed midsemester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. Completion and submission of CSWE competencybased student outcomes for department assessment/accreditation. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
Qualifications
MSW with previous online graduatelevel social work teaching experience preferred. Candidate must have 2 years postmasters experience.
