As a newly established business division of AXA XL Americasour Middle Market business focuses on the expansion of AXA XLs current offerings to midsized clients in the Commercial P&C market across the Americas. The Canadian market represents a key growth area for Middle Market and this role will play a key role in building our overall capabilities and driving our gotomarket approach. AXA XL Insurance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Underwriter to join our team. This role requires indepth knowledge and expertise in underwriting middle market complex risks managing a portfolio and developing strategic relationships with brokers and clients. The Executive Underwriter will play a critical role in shaping the underwriting strategy ensuring profitability and contributing to the companys growth objectives in order to support this exciting new business.

What will youressential responsibilities include

  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate underwrite and price middle market business within appetite ensuring compliance with company guidelines and industry standards. Drive profitable premium and rate goals working with actuarial and claims and successfully delivering results consistent with financial plan.
  • Portfolio Management:Develop and manage a portfolio focusing on achieving profitability and growth targets while maintaining an appropriate risk balance.
  • Market Analysis:Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends emerging risks and opportunities using these insights to inform underwriting decisions and strategies.
  • Relationship Management:Establish and maintain outstanding relationships with brokers clients and key stakeholders to facilitate business development negotiate terms and ensure client satisfaction. In addition identifying and establishing new distribution relationships.
  • Policy Development:Collaborate with underwriting teams and Canada Product Line Leader Middle Market to develop and refine policy wordings coverage terms and pricing structures tailored to middle market risks. Maintain expertise with products services priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden risks.
  • Strategic Planning:Contribute to the development and of underwriting strategies aligning with overall business objectives and market conditions.
  • Mentorship and Training:Provide expert guidance mentorship and training to junior underwriters fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Compliance and Governance:Ensure all underwriting activities adhere to regulatory requirements internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Reporting and Documentation:Prepare detailed underwriting reports portfolio reviews and documentation to support decisionmaking and provide insights to senior leadership.
  • Innovation:Identify and implement innovative underwriting practices tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and competitive advantage.

You will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer Middle Market Canada.

Were looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in business Finance Risk Management or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g. CIP CRM) are highly desirable.
  • Extensive Middle Market insurance experience (e.g. underwriting claims or insurance related business development experience).
  • Outstanding knowledge of the Canadian insurance industry combined with indepth technical knowledge of insurance product offerings.Effective broker relationships within the Canadian market.
  • The ability to travel a minimum of 15 of the time is anticipated.
