Sharon Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and qualified LongTerm Substitute English Learner (EL) Teacher to provide direct instruction to elementary English Learners. The substitute will play a vital role in supporting language development and academic success ensuring continuity of services during the absence of the regular EL teacher. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for working with diverse learners and an ability to deliver targeted language instruction aligned with students needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in English language development to elementary English Learners focusing on listening speaking reading and writing skills.
- Design and deliver lessons that align with district standards and WIDA English Language Development (ELD) standards.
- Work with classroom teachers to integrate EL students language goals into general education settings.
- Use language acquisition strategies and instructional tools to meet the diverse needs of EL students.
- Monitor and document student progress in language proficiency and academic achievement.
- Maintain open communication with families providing updates on student progress and available resources.
- Participate in meetings and collaborate with support staff to ensure students language and academic needs are met.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching license or certification (preferred in ESL or EL).
- Experience working with English Learners in a classroom setting.
