Job Description for PRT EVS Teacher
Overview:
The PRT (Primary Resource Teacher) in Environmental Studies (EVS) plays a crucial role in shaping young minds and fostering a connection with the environment. This position focuses on cultivating awareness respect and a sense of responsibility towards our planet among students at an early age. The teacher will be responsible for creating an engaging learning environment that encourages exploration and curiosity about natural and humanmade ecosystems. They will design ageappropriate curricula that encompass a variety of topics instilling fundamental principles of environmental science while integrating handson activities and projects. The PRT EVS Teacher also serves as an essential link between the school community and the environment promoting sustainability practices and encouraging students to take active roles in environmental stewardship. Furthermore the teacher must collaborate with other educators to ensure a cohesive approach to learning that values interdisciplinary connections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a curriculum for Environmental Studies tailored to primarygrade students.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate interactive activities and field trips.
- Facilitate handson experiments and projects to enhance student understanding of environmental concepts.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods including tests quizzes and projects.
- Encourage outdoor learning and environmental exploration.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect and inclusion.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance learning.
- Stay updated on current environmental issues and integrate relevant topics into discussions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align teaching strategies and share resources.
- Develop and maintain classroom resources related to environmental education.
- Organize and participate in school events focused on environmental awareness.
- Address diverse learning needs through differentiated instruction.
- Incorporate sustainability practices within the school community.
- Provide mentorship and support to student leaders in environmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Education Environmental Science or related field.
- Teaching certification for primary education.
- Experience in teaching Environmental Studies or related subjects at the primary level.
- Strong understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Passion for environmental issues and education.
- Proficiency in using educational technology tools.
- Experience with projectbased learning and assessment strategies.
