DescriptionConducts activities and tasks to effectively implement and maintain the medication diversion surveillance program. Participates in the investigation process of suspected medication diversion incidents. Provides support for the Drug Diversion Response Team. Participates in continuous improvement education and planning activities. Performs other miscellaneous activities as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications
- Completion of a twoyear college or vocational school program (Healthcare or Business preferred) AND a minimum of oneyear applicable pharmacy experience
OR - Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training program AND at least two years of applicable pharmacy experience
OR - High school diploma AND threeyears applicable pharmacy experience
Additional Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of medication dispensing technology (e.g. Pyxis Automated Dispensing System Pyxis CII Safe).
- Ability to communicate effectively work collaboratively with others and work independently with minimal supervision. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- The following are preferred: Experience in medication diversion detection and prevention. Knowledge and understanding of medication and controlled substances laws at the federal state and local level (e.g. Board of Pharmacy Drug Enforcement Agency). Familiarity with JCAHO Medication Management Standards. Previous experience in trending and analyzing data.
License or Certification
- Registration with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy as required.
- National Pharmacy Technician certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
