Primary Purpose:
Canyon ISD students will attain knowledge and skills to become accomplished readers independent learners critical thinkers creative problem solvers and informed citizens through the expertise of the school librarian and the use of resources services and technologies provided by school library programs.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills organized highly motivated advanced technology skills
Educational/Certification:
Must hold a valid Texas teaching certificate with GT and ESL certification and Librarian certification.
Experience:
3 years classroom teaching experience.
Major Responsibilities:
Serves as the Campus Library Media Center Coordinator
- Guide promote and encourage reading literacy and books for recreational and educational pursuits including appropriate books eBooks databases Web sites and technological resources to enable students to complete assignments and to become independent library users
- Provide instruction support and access to innovative technologies including but not limited to workstations laptops mobile learning devices apps BYOT eBooks SMART technologies Web 2.0 tools Discovery Education online databases emerging technologies and more.
- Plan and administer the media center budget; prepare and submit an annual budget recommend capital outlay expenditures compile and prepare requisitions and purchase orders maintain records of expenditures
- Collaborate with district and campus staff and students to support the CISD curriculum
- Create an atmosphere conducive to learning
- Promote professional support for staff by selecting and organizing materials for the professional collection
- Acquire and organize materials; maintain an accurate database and inventory of library holdings
- Plan circulation policies and procedures
- Update and maintain the campus and library websites in coordination with administrators counselor and staff
- Participate in professional organizations relating to applicable responsibilities and actively participate in professional development
- Attend regularly scheduled district librarians PLC meetings
- Participate in at least 6 hours of professional development in gifted and talented update learning
Serve as the Campus GT Contact
- In cooperation with administrators and the Director of Digital and Academic Innovation
- Oversee the assessment of students nominated for the G/T program
- Maintain records and portfolios of gifted students
- Coordinate G/T program information students parents faculty and community
- Coordinate G/T professional development opportunities for faculty
