House of Friendship is expanding its affordable and supportive housing portfolio more than doubling in size over the next few years.

Supportive and Affordable Housing provides permanent housing for individuals living on low income who are on a journey of recovery from homelessness and/or poverty. Through individualized support and opportunities to build community and connection the program promotes longterm housing stability and wellbeing. We are seeking a dynamic Supportive and Affordable Housing Manager to lead the implementation of the Homeless Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub Transitional Housing Program and the development of a new healthintegrated housing program at Friendship Village.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about coaching and developing people and teams. The Manager will:

** This is a permanent salaried fulltime 37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time personal days vacation time; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.

Schedule generally Monday to Friday daytime hours. Some flexibility required including evening and weekend hours and on call supervisory participation to support the needs of the program.

Valid G class drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle required;

frequent travel within Waterloo Region.

Successful completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required. **

Key Responsibilities:

Lead develop and support the team of Supervisors as well as their teams working within assigned programs including staff volunteers and students

Responsible for the healthy and safe operation of the programs; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all team members

Responsible for the allocation of staff students and volunteers based on the needs of each program and/or site

Responsible for all aspects of program operation including program development and review program budget allocation of resources and relationships with funders and community partners staff and participant safety

Create reports and proposals to support or source funding. Responsible for the management financial functions

Responsible for property management functions

Responsible for ensuring the program is meeting the performance outcomes and metrics of our Regional agreement

Responsible for the 24/7 program operation including day to day operations and crisis/emergency response

This position has responsibilities for 24/7 oncall support

Strategic project management and implementation of Supportive Housing and/or organization wide projects

Strategic leadership on supporting intensive case management of tenants living in the supportive housing program and ensuring tracking documentation and progression towards a recovery of homelessness through the HIFIS database

Overseeing the tenant engagement strategy to ensure decision making transparency feedback and program improvement through a human centered design process

Collaboration and teamwork across many functions to achieve success including: maintenance finance landlord and other service providers and partners within Waterloo Region

Ensure fiscal responsibility of program expenses through the creation and of a sustainable budget

Support the Program Director with creating reports and proposals to support and secure diverse funding opportunities

Responsible for public relations/community liaison with the program and with external partners

Engagement with local provincial and federal associations tied to supportive housing affordable housing addictions mental health and homelessness

Administrative support to program Director

Job Specific Knowledge/Skills:

Experience with coaching and mentoring for personal growth and development including the ability to coach others through conflict

Experience and proven abilities in housing social services and/or policy driven work ideally within a residential setting

Experience working with people who have a history of: trauma mental health addiction poor health poverty and/or homelessness is preferred

Passion to support people experiencing trauma mental health addiction poor health poverty and/or homelessness

Familiar with tenants rights and responsibilities in RTA protected units

Exceptional leadership in program oversight implementation assessment and reporting

Stellar problem solving to navigate change and implement evidencebased practice

Knowledge of local community agencies and resources is an asset

Experience in keeping financial records is an asset

Education/Experience:

University degree Social Sciences Social Work Healthcare or other related fields is required (Masters preferred)

Very strong leadership team building and decision making skills required including demonstrated strength in coaching and developing people and teams with at least 3 years previous experience leading a team

Experience working with student and volunteers considered an asset

Critical Skills:

Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected

Exemplary emotional intelligence resilience communication conflict management and problem solving skills required

Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff participants and community members

Build solid and fruitful relationships with community partners and agencies to increase opportunities for innovation and positively impact outcomes

Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a positive work environment including the ability to navigate change in a positive and productive manner

Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural background income levels and sensitivity to their needs

Strong intercultural competency with the ability to recognize and respect cultural diversity able to be diplomatic and sensitive to the dynamics of a culturally diverse workplace

Experience with and commitment to using an antiracism antioppressive and trauma informed approach in consultation program design evaluation processes and service delivery

Must be dependable professional flexible a team player and have a positive attitude

Respectful supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities addictions mental health and other life challenges

Excellent project timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics and planning and detailed record keeping

Able to model effective problem solving by recognizing the human interpersonal and technical sides of a problem show flexibility and explore possible solutions in an innovative and creative way

Act as a change agent; contributing to continuous improvement and the successful implementation of change initiatives

Rate of Pay:

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of grades and we base our payment structure on internal determining rate of pay a candidates past related experience will be taken into consideration.

Grade: 6 (Manager I)

Min: $33.60

Mid: $38.20

Max: $42.80

Working Conditions:

37.5 hours per week generally daytime with preplanned evening and weekend work to support the 24/7 program operation

Oncall 24/7 for program leadership and direction during times of crisis

Travel throughout the Region of Waterloo for required meetings and community engagement

Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected

This role is responsible to deescalating hostile situations involving individuals with tact and diplomacy
