SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT FOR STRATEGIC INITIATIVES OFFICE OF INNOVATION AND STRATEGY Office of Innovation and Strategy to work closely with the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer (CISO) and in collaboration with the Office of Resource Development (RD) to support the advancement of MITs top priorities including climate change and sustainability artificial intelligence and computing the life sciences and health humanities quantum and manufacturing.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelors degree; a minimum of ten years of progressive experience managing complex programs in advancement higher education and/or research institutions; a minimum of four years of experience supervising staff setting goals and managing performance and budgets; direct fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing major and principal gifts from individuals corporations and foundations; experience with international fundraising and causebased philanthropy; demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership faculty researchers and key stakeholders to develop and articulate funding priorities; solid project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment; excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate academic and technical concepts into compelling cases for support; superior interpersonal skills including the ability to develop trustbased relationships with faculty donors and institutional leaders; experience working in highly matrixed complex organizations and effectively navigating organizational relationships; ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus in strategic planning and fundraising efforts; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite CRM software and virtual collaboration tools (e.g. Zoom Microsoft Teams); and willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally. PREFERRED: Advanced degree in a relevant field; experience working within higher education and research institutions; familiarity with fundraising software such as Ellucian Advance Web; a solid understanding of global economic and political issues as they relate to philanthropy and research funding; and experience engaging with corporate partners and industry leaders to foster research and educational collaborations.
