Shaw Industries Corporate Engineering (CE) supports the corporations manufacturing distribution and administrative facilities. Although based primarily in Dalton GA CE is deployed on projects nationwide and internationally. The department offers feasibility studies highlevel and detailed budget estimates engineering design project management consulting forensic investigations and CAD services. CE includes specialists to meet the needs of each business segment divided into four support groups: Fibers & Yarn Carpet & Backing Hard Surfaces and Construction & Global Facilities. The staff comprises mechanical electrical and civil engineers CAD designers and administrative personnel.

Position Overview:
This position reports to the Corporate Engineering Construction Group and supports all areas of manufacturing distribution and corporate administrative facilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the limited direction of an Engineering Manager the position is responsible and accountable for providing structural engineering and design support as well as project development and . Specific duties include:
Conducts general facility and site assessments buildings roofs roadways parking lots and foundations.
Performs structural inspections for potential damage and deterioration to buildings mezzanines storage racks and hoist systems.
Ability to perform load calculations to ensure structural soundness
Prepares plans and design specifications for new construction renovation and facility improvement type projects.
Choose appropriate materials to ensure durability and costeffectiveness
Manages outside contractors and conformance to plans and specifications.
Manages various projects budgets schedule and safety.
Designs fall prevention/protection systems and permanent anchor points.
Calculates design loads and capacities of existing structures.
Requirements:
EducationBachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Georgia required and ability to be licensed in surrounding states.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering
Possess knowledge of the various building types roof systems and concrete construction.
Possess knowledge of applicable building codes and design standards (ex. IBC ACI ASTM AISC and ADA).
Proficient with AutoCAD structural packages (ex. RISA Enercalc) and MS Office.
Possess excellent technical writing skills for producing engineering reports and recommendations design documents and specifications.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills organized and excellent communication skills.
Occasional travel required
