The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine Atmospheric and Earth Science invites applications for one Senior Research Associate I (SRA I) position at the NOAA Fisheries Southeast Fisheries Science Center Marine Mammal and Turtle Division located in Crowley Louisiana.
Candidates for this position must have: 1 a Masters degree or higher in marine biology ecology environmental science or a related field; 2 laboratory experience including collection and analysis of genomic data sets; 3 the ability and desire to work as part of a collaborative team and support a culture of respect inclusivity and cooperation; 4 demonstrated organizational and communication skills; and 5 demonstrated ability to successfully and efficiently work on multiple tasks at once. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory work and genomic analyses supporting the Marine Mammal Program at the Crowley Louisiana laboratory. Duties will include performing DNA extractions PCR DNA sequencing nextgeneration library preparation and utilization of techniques involved with eDNA collection extraction and data analysis including metabarcoding. Additional duties include database entry archiving and management of all genomic data metadata and pipelines and the preparation of reports and/or peerreviewed manuscripts.
