If you have experience providing excellent customer service and engaging programming then the Library Paraprofessional position at our Southeast Regional Librarymay be for you. As our Library Paraprofessional you will perform library work basic readers advisory reference services and present programs. In this role you will link the community to library resources while breathing life into your own story.

We Require
Two years of library experience
Associates degree in Library Science Education Liberal Arts Social Science Information Management or related field
A combination of postsecondary education and/orjobrelated experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a yearforyear basis
We Also Value
Experience with libraryrelated automation systems or databases; eReaders and other digital devices
Experience creating and implementing programs for youth teens and adults
Paraprofessional library skills acquired through a specialized educational training program
Job Contributions
Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers using the Librarys District Great Expectations customer service model
Assists with preparing implementing and presenting public programs
Assists with conducting school visits group tours and community outreach
Performs routine opening/closing procedures
Assists with providing direct service to customers through basic reference and readers advisory services
Assists patrons in the use of computer services including the online catalog the Internet and various databases
Responds to customer concerns
Creates reading logs brochures signage posters bulletin boards letters bookmarks bibliographies games promotional displays and pamphlets
Assists with compiling and reporting required statistics
Assists with collection development including weeding shifting shelfreading etc. as needed
Assists with the placement training and scheduling of Library volunteers
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a library environment with a varied schedule continually dependent on branch needs and often requires evening and weekend availability
Ability to lift bins push carts stoop to shelve kneel to shelve walk to assist customers with finding materials walk to and from staff area to public area move craft and program supplies from various storage areas to the site of program in the library and offsite
Ability to lift 20 pounds floor to waist lift 5 pounds waist to shoulder lift 1 pound shoulder to overhead carry 10 pounds a distance of 50 feet and push/pull 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
