Job Description
A Composites Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the manufacturing repairand maintenance of composite materials used in Aerospace industries. Theirprimary role is to work with composite materials which are combinations ofdifferent materials such as fibers (e.g. carbon glass) embedded in a matrix(e.g. resin) to create strong and lightweight structures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Works with composites using prepreg Oven& autoclave curing process wet layup resin infusion Filament windingprocess.
Workswith resins fiber and honeycomb materials.
Sandsand grinds composite materials while wearing PPEs.
Correctstructure discrepancies involving composite repairs.
Benchassembles and installs composite components on metal components.
Adhesivebonding activity for composite structure assembly.
Usesmanufacturing plan written instructions schematics blueprints and otherapplicable technical documents to fabricate repair and modify compositestructures.
Usesappropriate stamp to sign off completed work to include manufacturing planninginspection discrepancy records product assurance records and applicableprogram documentation.
Maintaina clean safe and healthy work area.
Documentationand Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed includingproduction data inspection reports and material usage. Communicate anydeviations defects or concerns to supervisors or engineers.
Safetyand Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols guidelines and regulations toensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) asrequired and participate in safety training programs.
Collaborationand Communication: Collaborate with engineers designers and other teammembers to discuss project requirements provide feedback and suggestimprovements. Communicate effectively to resolve issues and ensure smoothworkflow.
ContinuousLearning: Stay updated with advancements in composite materialsmanufacturing techniques and industry best practices. Participate in trainingprograms or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
ProblemSolving: Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to compositemanufacturing or repair. Propose and implement solutions to improve efficiencyquality or safety.
Overalla Composites Technician plays a vital role in the production and maintenance ofcomposite structures ensuring the highest quality standards are met whileadhering to safety guidelines. They need a strong attention to detail manualdexterity and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Aerospace mechanical experience of composite tometal composite to composite and metal to metal assembly experience desired.
Ability to read and interpret process documentengineering drawings and route card required.
Familiarity with various pieces of groundsupport and test equipment desired.
The ability to understand and followinstructions and the ability to concentrate is required.
Excellent written verbal communication and interpersonalskills.
The ability to get along with others or to bepart of a team.
Access to Export Control Information.
Regular attendance at the worksite.
Requirements
Diploma in Mechanical with 23 years workrelatedexperience/ ITI in fitter 45 years workrelated experience.
