What You Will Do:

Charged with overall account growth and client satisfaction this role of Account Director requires an initiativetaking driven professional with strong sales and business acumen a proven track record of success in complex solution selling professional services experience a solid understanding of utility business operations and passion for and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive growth and client satisfaction in Guidehouses Energy Providers Practice through crafting selling and overseeing delivery of strategic advisory technology and risk management consulting engagements with a primary focus on InvestorOwned Utilities
  • Support Guidehouses Energy Providers Practice in the following ways:
    • Developing/expanding longterm client relationships with key accounts in the South and MidAtlantic region that lead to repeat business and meeting and exceeding annual sales targets
    • Leading the pursuit and closure of new consulting engagements
    • Building deep trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders
    • Collaborating with senior consulting professionals in our delivery and solutions teams across Guidehouse to crosssell a broader range of Guidehouse offerings to our Energy Provider clients
  • Improve client business performance through benchmarking process improvement performance metrics operating risk assessment and implementation of continuous improvement principles for clients including:
    • Assessing and guiding the business process and organizational changes required to improve organizational effectiveness
    • Building resultsoriented business processes developing and implementing long and shortterm strategies and transition business models for clients
    • Providing oversight to project assignments including development of team building the work plan directing and coordinating technical contributions and overseeing budget and schedule
  • Contribute strategic industry and subject matter expertise and thought leadership on project assignments
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior staff
  • Manage all aspects of client relationships and oversight of engagement delivery

What You Will Need:

  • US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident status (due to the nature of client engagements)
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Business or related discipline
  • Ten 10 plus years work experience in professional services for utilities or a management consulting firm servicing commercial energy providers /investor owned utilities. Internships coops fellowships graduate research not counted towards the years of experience. Experience in healthcare telecommunications banking or financial sector are not applicable for this role
  • Significant energy and utility business experience with a deep background in the utility industry with a specific depth in one or more of the following: customer programs market structure asset management T&D and resiliency climate change regulatory decarbonization utilities IT/OT enterprise technologies
  • Demonstrated Executive / Clevel relationships with energy and utility clients and the ability to develop and maintain longterm relationships
  • Demonstrable experience leading business development initiatives (writing proposals identifying opportunities to expand the scope and/or providing additional services) and managing account teams (developing and implementing an account plan and leading account team activities)
  • Full lifecycle solution experience including strategy planning design implementation (including technology implementation) and operations
  • Reviewing and at times preparing and delivering reports presentations and other documents for client deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills and people skills
  • High degree of selfconfidence and determination
  • Advanced organizational and management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple timesensitive priorities and assignments without diminished effectiveness
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets databases word processing and slide presentation software
  • Ability to travel up to 75 as needed
  • Ability to work individually as part of a team or leading a team
  • Must currently reside or ability to relocate in the South or MidAtlantic US region


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering Business Administration Economics Policy or Finance discipline
  • Program/Project management experience (PMP certification)
