Summary
The School of Aviation invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack position at the Assistant Professor rank with an expected start date of August 2025. This is a 9month renewable appointment.
Information about Program and College
The BGSU School of Aviation is one of the largest aviation programs in the state of Ohio and in the U.S. It is one of the few academic programs with an airport on its campus. Our Aviation Studies program offers two Bachelor level degreesAviation Management and Operations (AMO) and Flight Technology and Operations (FTO)and we are a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved part 141 flight school.

- Teach and develop undergraduate and especially graduate level courses in airline/airport management airline operational control centers airline finance airline/airport planning & design airport security aviation management aviation safety or related fields.
- Conduct research that leads to peerreviewed publications in aviation management & related areas; actively seek external research support as appropriate.
- Perform service to the department college and university as well as to the profession at a national level.
Minimum Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (or all but dissertation) or a terminal degree from an accredited institution in Aviation Management or related discipline. Doctoral degree required by start date of employment.
- Aviation industry experience of at least two years with focus on one of the following areas: airline/airport management airline operational control centers airline finance airport planning & design airport security aviation management aviation safety aviation weather or related aviation fields.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and develop aviation management courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Demonstrated online teaching experience.
- Experience with using a learning management system for teaching purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research in advanced air mobility emerging technologies and applications in aviation airline/airport management airline operational control centers airline finance airline airport planning & design airport security aviation management aviation safety or related fields.
- FAA or other relevant industry certificates (e.g. FAA Pilot certificate(s) FAA Airline Dispatcher certificate AAAE CM or A.A.E certification etc.
- A background in Advanced Air Mobility along with research in the topic.
- An FAA drone certification.
