The City of Shelby
Class A Lineworker
The City of Shelby is seeking applicants for the position of Class A Lineworker. This position is responsible for performing diversified construction work and maintaining poles power lines and auxiliary facilities and equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity. Additionally this position is responsible for working of the ground and line craft and the occasional supervision of exacting work involving responsibility for expensive tools equipment and materials and/or for directing the work of helpers on nonrepetitive operations.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent completion of a certified lineworker apprenticeship program and a commercial Class B drivers license with air brake endorsement.
The city offers an excellent wage a comprehensive insurance package vacation compensatory time paid holidays and paid sick leave. Qualified applicants are eligible for the vacation accrual schedule. The current hourly rate is $40.84.
