Job Description

The READS Collaborative Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program is located in Norton MA with one satellite program embedded within the BristolPlymouth Regional Technical High School in Taunton MA. The READS DHH program provides a full array of special education services to students who are Deaf and/or Hardof Hearing for grades PreK 12. Services range from fully substantially separate education to full inclusion with interpreter and academic support as needed. The Assistant Program Director will support the Program Director in the overall supervision and implementation of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program assuring that all policies and procedures are followed in accordance with MA DESE regulations. The Assistant Program Director will facilitate efficient daytoday program operations of DHH with the goal of maintaining a high quality studentcentered program.Required QualificationsDESE License Teacher of the Deaf or related fieldExperience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Fluent in American Sign LanguageKnowledge of general child development and language development as specifically related to Deaf and Hard of Hearing studentsKnowledge of current trends and best practices in education especially as it relates to Deaf educationExperience with Individual Education Program (IEP) developmentExcellent communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications:Masters Degree in Deaf Education or related fieldDESE Administrator License as Special Education Director Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director or ability to obtainExperience and knowledge with regard to special education laws and regulationsExperience and supervision skills in the management of an interdisciplinary team Experience with Program Development and Implementation Familiar with Deaf and HardofHearing educational researchFamiliar with educational interpreter rolesKnowledge of Massachusetts Frameworks including the Common Core This is a NonBargaining Unit Position Work Year: 205 days
