Tenant Defense Project
(FullTime Exempt Position)

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm located in the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect ICLC fights for justice for lowincome tenants workingpoor families people who are disabled or experiencing homelessness people living with HIV/AIDS and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a highly motivated Program Director for our Tenant Defense Project (TDP) team. The Program Director will act as a bridge between strategy and overseeing the successful planning and accomplishment of the teams goals managing resources effectively and efficiently and directing daytoday activities. The Program Director will have primary responsibility for all aspects of the program except legal case strategy legal training and substantive legal case supervision for the team. The Program Director will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise manage support and guide Supervising Attorneys and Supervising Paralegal to meet service delivery goals and obtain successful client outcomes. Work closely with direct reports to ensure they effectively:
    • Set clear guidelines regarding case handling protocols and policies including courtroom expectations and support for team members.
    • Supervise program staffs intake training and case work.
    • Implement programmatic and operational policies and changes.
  • Oversee the Intake Supervisors Management of intake and screening mechanisms and distribution of cases.
  • Direct the development of new team initiatives including Right to Counsel expansion process improvement staffing and implementation in alignment with the organizations mission and strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with team leadership and executive management to develop strategy that articulates goals and ensures that the team aligns with the broader organization.
  • Oversee program administration of the team including helping to prepare the team budget and monitoring the budget and deliverables.
  • Responsible for relationship with funders and meeting of grant deliverables.
  • Responsible for regular grant reporting and overseeing data collection and tracking to support grant requirements.
  • Track caseload and case reporting to ensure compliance with internal and external expectations and goals.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant applications.
  • Update the Executive Team regularly on project and deliverables progress.
  • Assess and manage program risks.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with legal services agencies communitybased organizations and other stakeholders including attending regularly occurring coalition meetings.
  • Work with Program Operations to support program evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong research writing and analytical skills. Must have access to reliable transportation.

Compensation: Salary compensation ranges from $100000 $140000 per year and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
