Job Description

Program Director for Workday Implementation

Grade 15

FLSA Status: Exempt

Nonbargaining Unit

BASIC FUNCTION

The Workday program manager provides executivelevel leadership oversight and coordination of the overall Workday implementation process and related activities including leadership and facilitation of the Workday Steering Committee oversight of the Workday Core Team and the necessary functional sub teams. The program manager provides projectrelated direction and supervision via a solid or dottedline reporting relationship to the project managers business and process analysts systems leads and other functional stakeholders engaged in the implementation effort.

This position is contingent on receipt of continued funding from external sources.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead program planning project preparation and stakeholder collaboration needed to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Lead the overall Workday implementation efforts in alignment to the project plans and statement of work provided by the vendor.
  • Provides leadership and facilitation of the Steering Committee and the overall governance process.
  • Provide direction to the project managers business and process analysts systems leads change leaders and other functional stakeholders engaged in the implementation effort.
  • Create and deliver regular program updates to the sponsors presidents senior leadership and the Board of Trustees that describe plans progress barriers and risks.
  • Ensure that system configurations and other deliverables meet the technical and functional objectives and needs of both institutions and shared service units.
  • Provide daily management and adjustments of project resources budgets and scope that could significantly impact budget or timeline.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The ERP Program Manager reports to the Interim CIO and Workday Executive Sponsor.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Provide leadership and projectrelated supervision to the Workday project lead project managers enterprise system lead and dottedline supervision to the functional leads for the Finance HR and Student module implementation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of policies organizational dynamics business processes and best practices and compliance procedures in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading organizationwide projects involving complex systems and business processes.
  • A broad understanding of the needs of students faculty staff and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent administrative organizational communication and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with vendors and a wide range of individuals inside and outside the VSCS.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically to adjust to shifting priorities demands and timelines demonstrating teamwork innovation and excellence.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead up across and down.
  • Excellent communication (written verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience influencing and gaining buyin from executive sponsors team members stakeholders and peers.
  • Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving problems making decisions and managing priorities.

Location and Funding:

This position can be based on any of the Vermont State Colleges System campuses. Occasional travel within Vermont or other locations may be required. If hybrid the incumbent must reside within a U.S State that the Vermont State Colleges System is registered to do business in. This position is dependent on the availability of designated transformation or systems project funding. The position is funded for a minimum of four years.
