Location: Glasgow / Lothian and Borders Strathclyde Dumfries and Galloway Fife Central belt etc.
Salary up to 57750 per year (dependant on experience) with a strong benefits package plus extensive Overtime available (further details below)
37hour basic week

Role
To enact the role of Client Representative on site ensuring that the sitebased construction activities across Scottish Power Strategic Projects are efficiently managed in accordance with Scottish Power policies and procedures.
What you will be doing
Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is proactive in discharging their duties under the CDM regulations not least in managing all safety aspects of the constructionbased activities.
Review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities promptly advising the EPC Project Manager of any risks opportunities or delays to programme which could impact the overall completion date or costs at completion.
Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site ensuring that access/egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log/diary.
Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Ensure the PC is proactive in holding Site Progress Meetings and issues minutes of these meetings.
Support Quality Assurance monitoring across the Strategic Projects.
Undertake the role of client representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation.
Enacting the role of Employers Supervisor under NEC contracts.
Issue site instructions following agreement from the EPC Project Manager and authenticate any record & sheets issued by the Principal Contractor.
Ensure that a drawing documentation system is established on site which clearly indexes drawings logged and filed in specific sections.
Maintain the system throughout with the latest working drawings/revisions clearly noted and drawings filed to ensure they are readily available.
Coach mentor other members of staff as and when required.
Drive agreed OFGEM regulatory targets for Sustainability and Biodiversity.
What you will bring
Primary knowledge of construction construction related activities including RAMS & ITPs Hazard Identification & Mitigation relevant standards & specifications good understanding of designs maintenance monitoring AsBuilt records and H&S file preparation for the works underground cabling within substation monitoring and inspecting the installation of foundations steel structures ducts systems control buildings underground cables all HV equipments including transformers and associated installations cable sealing ends and terminations fibre optic connections etc.
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
Strong leadership & planning skills.
Basic Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope time cost quality safety and security of supply.
Skilled in the use of PC & Microsoft Software Applications for planning and organising works Power Points Word Excel Project and able to use digital forms of communication TEAMS.
Proven ability to lead and work in a team and contractors environment.
Maintain good working relationships.
Have a proactive and flexible approach and provide a high degree of autonomy during the delivery phase of the project.
Basic understanding of various Contract forms such as NEC 3 or 4 and FIDIC etc. & awareness of NEC conditions of contract.
Expert understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
Previous experience of project site management capability of working to deadlines and in a contracting environment.
Significant experience in managing transmission construction projects.
Extensive experience of construction standards especially with regards to Overhead Lines
Extensive experience and knowledge in all current Health and Safety legislation & understand CDM 2015 regs & duty holder roles most notably in delivering the Client role and/or Principal Contractor role.
In addition have experience in the application and compliance with GS6 HSG47 and Temporary works.
Knowledge of specifications designs maintenance construction and commissioning of overhead lines monitoring and inspecting construction activities such as access development foundation installation assembly and erection (wood pole and towers) wiring reinsulation re spacering reconductoring tower painting and reinstatement works.
Technical knowledge to understand civil structural and wiring design drawings and all inspection and testing regimes associated.
Minimum Requirements
HNC / HND or equivalent experience in an engineering and or construction discipline.
SMSTS NEBOSH IOSH or SSSTS.
Formal training in the following areas: Construction H&S CDM Risk Assessment & Method Statements Environmental Duty of Care and Waste Management Contract Terms and Conditions.
IT skills.
Full UK driving licence
