The City of College Park Fire Department is dedicated to protectingits community by offering a comprehensive range of fire suppression fireprevention rescue and emergency medical services. As the Deputy Fire Chief of College Park you will help leada dynamic and dedicated department comprised of 76 exceptional staff membersincluding 66 fire suppression personnel one EMS coordinator and sevenadministrative professionals. The department proudly holds an ISO rating of 3reflecting high standards and efficiency in service delivery.
The Fire Department operates from three strategicallylocated fire stations and has an annual budget of $8917708. In 2023 alonethe team responded to over 9300 emergency calls which included 2111 fireincidents and 7216 EMS calls. Their proactive approach to fire safety is clearin the comprehensive review of 800 building plans and the completion of 233fire sprinkler inspections in the past year.
The Deputy Fire Chief will serve as the City EmergencyManagement Coordinator a vital secondary Emergency Manager position reportingdirectly to the Fire Chief. In this capacity the Emergency ManagementCoordinator will play a key role in implementing the Citys EmergencyOperational Plan ensuring that it aligns with best practices and regulations.
As Deputy Fire Chief you will lead strategic planningcommunity outreach and emergency response management ensuring that CollegePark remains a safe and thriving environment for residents and visitors.
The position requires the successful candidate to meet thefollowing qualifications:
Bachelorsdegree in Fire Science Emergency Medical Services Emergency ManagementPublic Administration or a closely related field. Masters degree preferred.
Ten(10 years of progressively responsible experience as a Certified firefighterincluding certification as a Georgia Emergency Medical Technician Intermediateor higher Paramedic preferred; at least four 4 years as a Battalion/Division Chief and five 5 years in a supervisory or management position.(Time served in a provisional chief capacity will not count towards timeserved.
Mustpossess a valid drivers license; certification as Fire Instructor HazardousMaterials Operations Level Fire Incident Safety Officer; completion of ICSmanagement series IMS 400.
CertifiedEmergency Manager (CEM) (preferred) Homeland Security and Emergency Management(HSEM) Emergency Management Professional Certification.
Anequivalent combination of education training and experience.
