About the role

This is a fixedterm fulltime opportunity from Aug 2025 to Feb 2026.The Palliative Care Registrar is based at 3 days at Neringah Hospital and 2 days at Mona Vale Hospital. This role provides palliative care reviews to patients in the home setting and workswithin the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that medical clinical care is provided to outpatients of the Palliative Care service under the supervision of the Staff Specialist.


The essence of this role

  • Provide palliative care reviews to patients in an outpatient clinic and home visits
  • Provide specialist palliative care reviews in residential aged care facilities
  • Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team in providing patient care
  • Maintain an appropriate standard of personal professionalism at all times and in all activities undertaken
  • Implement a personal learning program for the term in conjunction with their Specialist Supervisor


Qualifications Work Experience Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCares Christian Mission Motivation and Mission in Action
  • Unrestricted NSW Medical Board Registration or eligibility for Unrestricted NSW Registration
  • Primary Medical degree eligible for Medical Board registration and a minimum of two years supervised practice as an RMO
  • Experience in Palliative Medicine or related specialty with competence in the individual specialty area expected to be consistent with the level of training and professional development stage attained by the individual occupying the position
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Current Drivers License
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills
  • Organisational ability both personal organisation and ability to supervise others
  • Demonstrated compassion and caring attitude.

Desirable

  • Advanced palliative medicine trainee (RACP AChPM) or other Accredited trainees (eg other specialities general practice)
  • Previous training in oncology (medical or radiation) or other relevant specialities
  • Experience in medical research and quality assurance
  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Working towards postgraduate qualifications in Palliative Medicine (including a palliative care diploma) or related specialty
