There is one Fulltime permanent Employment Advisor Employment Services position available starting on April 21 2025 working 37.5 hours per week.
Your Role:
Assesses individuals to determine their employment barriers and assists them to secure and maintain employment and/or pursue education or vocational training. Links clients into job placement and training programs to support job development and maintenance needs. Assists clients in exploring employment and career options setting goals and developing employment action plans. Coordinates case management functions to ensure the clients successful transition into the labour market. Facilitates job search and employment preparation workshops as required.
Tasks:
Client Service:
1. Conducts client assessments to determine service eligibility employment and career planning needs; recommends resources and makes appropriate referrals.
2. Administers formal and informal assessments designed to determine the interests aptitudes and abilities of clients.
3. Assists clients to develop a marketable cover letter resume portfolio business cards and online presence.
4. Supports clients to enhance interview skills and teaches effective selfmarketing methods including cold calling.
5. Completes online applications with or for clients.
6. Assists clients in completing education funding applications.
7. Builds rapport and maintains contact with clients to establish an effective counselling relationship.
8. Performs employment career and personal management counselling such as budgeting hygiene self esteem communication and conflict resolution.
9. Provides ongoing job maintenance services to program participants.
10. Provides crisis intervention assistance for clients including housing referrals income support and other external community resources.
11. Facilitates job search career development health and safety and job maintenance workshops to groups or individuals.
12. Supports clients in the Resource Centre.
13. Delivers outreach workshops within the community.
14. Responds to difficult or challenging client behavior utilizing calming techniques.
15. Works in partnerships to deliver programs meet funding targets and achieve the goals of the program.
16. Carries portfolios in program areas such as specific client groups assessments apprenticeships outreach etc.
Case Management:
17. Coordinates regular case conferences to ensure effective service provision.
18. Provides case management to ensure a successful client transition into the labour market.
19. Liaises with external agencies to facilitate referrals and coordinate client services e.g. school boards probation services OW and ODSP.
20. Provides follow up support for clients.
Administration:
21. Assists with the development and implementation of the marketing strategy and promotions.
22. Under the supervision of the Manager or Supervisor assists with training supporting and evaluating students and volunteers.
23. Meets agency and funder outcomes as well as monthly individual targets.
24. Liaises with the Program Manager / Supervisor to communicate information and provide progress reports for submission to funding bodies.
25. Maintains client files according to agency and funding guidelines; prepares for file audit requirements.
26. Develops a variety of reporting forms including employment action plans monthly statistics and reports.
27. Stays current on labour market information related to job openings entry and skill requirements and other occupational information.
28. Develops and updates workshop content to meet current trends and participant needs.
Your Talents and Experience:
Degree or diploma in social sciences business or education a minimum of 1 year related experience in employment counselling and community development work. Holds or is working toward a Career Development Practitioner designation or equivalent. Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and Employment Standards Act an asset. Strong commitment to customer service is essential; previous experience working in a community based notforprofit environment advantageous. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and as part of a high performing team required. Strong organizational communication and administrative skills desired. Some evening work will be required. Excellent oral and written skills. Working knowledge of MS Office and various social media platforms. A valid drivers license and reliable transportation are required.
