Our goal is to be the first choice for families seeking an educational experience where every student is challenged supported and inspired to own their journey to mastery and independence in a community where they are truly known and valued.Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations (DFO) the Director of Facilities/Campus Enhancement is responsible for the care and maintenance of the schools physical plant property and grounds. The primary duties of this position will be in directing managing and coordinating all routine building and grounds maintenance activities custodial services campus security and budgeted enhancement projects throughout the campus. The Director of Facilities/Campus Enhancement will serve as the primary safety officer in regard to drills inspections and the like. The Director will be responsible for ongoing management of their assigned budgets. The Director will be expected to have a mindset of continuous improvement and will work to mitigate any property & liability risk associated with building and grounds.This position requires that the candidate be able to work under minimal supervision and have the ability to lead the department to meet work goals and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be detailoriented and possess the physical agility to complete tasks in a safe timely and efficient manner.Supervisory Functions:
  • Supervisory responsibility over campus enhancement personnel and their projects.
  • Assist in the recruitment interviewing and selection of operations personnel.
  • Suggest improvements to DFO related to policies and procedures in Operations.
  • Develop appropriate training for department personnel.
  • Routinely inspect and tour all campus facilities for maintenance and custodial needs.
  • Supervises outside contractors including custodial food services and grounds.
  • Processes support requests determines which jobs will be performed by internal staff and which must be performed by outside contractors and advises the DFO.
  • Creates and maintains a plan for snow removal including an equitable schedule for everyone in the department.
  • Maintains department schedules to ensure adequate staffing and equitable overtime scheduling.
  • Maintains a clear focus on implementing the vision and mission of the school related to all physical plant assets.
  • Reviews completion times of work orders with staff to efficiently manage the overall process in the CMMS ticketing system.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and productive working environment.
  • Supervises the work of outside maintenance and custodial contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements municipal codes and safety standards.
  • Must be present at some afterhours events to coordinate activities including but not limited to BacktoSchool Graduation Reunion and various other events as determined by the DFO or Head of School.
Building Oversight:
  • Work with the DFO to develop priority lists for building maintenance and prepare cost estimates.
  • Schedule inspections (boiler sprinklers fire etc..
  • Serve as Maintenance on Call as part of a rotating schedule and take a leadership role when responding to emergencies.
  • Leverage the CMMS system to ensure operational excellence including planning monitoring reporting maintenance tasks tracking work orders scheduling maintenance tracking assets creating and managing work orders and implementing preventive maintenance plans.
  • Conduct routine and periodic inspections of facilities vehicles and grounds with the DFO and Head of School.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment and make recommendations for necessary purchases.
  • Oversee inventory control for all general supplies and equipment needed for repairs and grounds collaborating with custodial inventory.
  • Assess all plumbing HVAC and electrical problems determine the root cause and develop a plan of action to correct the problem.
  • Respond appropriately to faculty staff student and community emergencies by assisting as needed.
  • Schedule implement and manage a preventive maintenance program for production machinery and equipment in conjunction with the DFO.
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal building codes SDS OSHA EPA ADA regulations and fire codes.
General Duties:
  • Protects maintains and enhances the facilities and related assets of the Bancroft School in a safe and efficient manner including buildings grounds furniture fixtures fire safety and security equipment maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Safeguards related plans documents and files.
  • Stays abreast of the changing needs of all schoolyear programming as well as summer programs and responds promptly to any facilities needs and operating services.
  • Solicits bids for evaluates and recommends outside contractors as appropriate or necessary to perform certain facility/maintenance tasks and monitors and manages their performance.
  • Actively works to identify and implement energysaving measures with the support of the DFO.
  • Ensures that all health and safety requirements are met for all equipment used by campus food services.
  • Schedules and manages routine maintenance on all building systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the campus.
  • Effectively uses computers and phones including the use of spreadsheets databases and inventory management software.
  • Completes injury and accident reports for accidents occurring on school property and files with insurance carriers.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required or jobrelated experience with a minimum of ten years of fulltime professional experience in facilities.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience involving public organization facilities maintenance operations and/or construction.
  • Working knowledge of local state and federal laws related to the operations and maintenance of school facilities.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
  • Experience with cost estimation of remodeling and facilities improvement projects.
  • Experience designing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of building management systems including HVAC and fire alarm controls.
  • Must be able to successfully meet the hiring standard for background checks including CORI fingerprinting driving record and I9 substantiation.
  • Effective communication skills oral and written
  • Technical proficiency using computer software and applications across a variety of platforms.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic drawings.
Working Conditions:
  • Environment: indoor/outdoor all weather conditions.
  • Physical demands: Able to sit stand and frequently lift equipment and materials weighing 100 pounds or more crawl climb ladders twist turn and reach in manual dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of office equipment tools and computer keyboards completing a variety of job duties.
  • Position is 40 hours per week working in all weather conditions.
  • Working Relationships: Students parents admission personnel all other Bancroft School employees and vendors.
  • Work requirements may include working evening hours on weekends holidays or during inclement weather.
