Job Description:
Clinton High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Agricultural Education Teacher to join our team and contribute to our vibrant Agricultural Education program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in agricultural mechanics and livestock specifically cattle and be committed to providing students with handson experiential learning opportunities. This coteacher position will involve teaching a variety of agricultural education courses advising the FFA chapter and fostering strong relationships with students parents and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Instruction:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in agricultural mechanics including welding small engine repair metal fabrication and agricultural construction.
- Teach courses related to beef cattle production including animal science nutrition breeding and management.
- Instruct students in general agricultural education principles including plant science soil science and agricultural business.
- Utilize diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and ensure student success.
- Integrate technology into classroom instruction and laboratory activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and progress.
- FFA Advisement:
- Serve as the FFA Chapter Advisor guiding students in leadership development personal growth and career success.
- Organize and supervise FFA activities including meetings competitions community service projects and fundraising events.
- Prepare students for Career Development Events (CDEs) and Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs).
- Promote active participation in FFA at the local state and national levels.
- Program Management:
- Develop and manage the agricultural education budget.
- Maintain and manage the agricultural mechanics laboratory and related equipment.
- Coordinate and supervise student SAE projects including farm visits and onsite evaluations.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local agricultural businesses and organizations.
- Organize and supervise field trips and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Work with school administration to maintain and improve the agricultural facilities including the school farm and any animal facilities.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents community members and agricultural industry professionals.
- Promote the agricultural education program within the school and community.
- Participate in schoolwide events and activities.
- Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Agricultural Education or a related field.
- Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Agricultural Education.
- Strong knowledge and experience in agricultural mechanics including welding small engine repair and metal fabrication.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in beef cattle production and management.
- Ability to operate agricultural machinery and equipment pull a trailer etc.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students parents and colleagues.
- Demonstrated leadership and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to manage and maintain agricultural equipment and facilities.
- Familiarity with Oklahoma FFA and CDEs.
- Ability to obtain a CDL is a plus.
