Job Description

Liberty Common High School is seeking a fulltime 912thgrade Academic Support Team Coordinator to begin in August 2025. Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins Colorado is a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Core Knowledge principles and collegepreparatory instruction.

LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching: 1 a contextual body of organized knowledge 2 the skills of learning and 3 the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice partnership with teachers and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.

The Academic Support Team (AST) Coordinator is part of the Liberty Academic Support collaborative team serving special education students and students at high risk. Additionally the AST Coordinator serves the staff and the school as a whole on a consultative basis.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular Fulltime

WORK HOURS: 3540 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $45000.00$65000.00 (possibly higher based on background experience and/or institutional alignment).

REPORTS TO: Principal

REVISION DATE: October 2024

Essential Functions:

  • Administrative oversight of all IEP 504 and ELD service plans and meetings. This includes developing plans communicating with parents students and teachers and coordinating staffing and meetings for IEP and 504s.
  • Plan and deliver instruction to identified students in the classroom or intervention room as needed to help students meet IEP and AIP goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements in areas served by AST.
  • Administrative oversight of MTSS/RtI process for 7th12th grade students.
  • Crisis intervention and social/emotional liaison.
  • Monitor progress and maintain documentation for academic social and emotional progress and/or needs of students.
  • Oversight/support of enrollment process for students with academic concerns.
  • Act as liaison between parents students and school support staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Instruct Guided Study classes within the framework of the Liberty Common curriculum and state content standards.
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring progress for students who are struggling but not identified for special education services.
  • Assist general education teachers with identifying struggling students implementing interventions and monitoring student progress (MTSS/RtI).
  • Produce timely evaluation reports goals and objectives and documentation for IEP services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as required by federal law and school policy.
  • Create master schedule for AST with regard to standardized testing classes and finals.
  • Refer review and monitor progress/ maintain documentation for STAT (StudentTeacher Assistance Team) process in coordination with STAT team.
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings.

Supervisory duties:

  • Supervise special education department.
  • Organize and facilitate schedules for students resource teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Supervise special education paraprofessionals and resource teachers.
  • Report to LCHS administration and BOD.
  • Attend regular quarterly and other meetings with PSD Integrated Services.
  • Evaluate AST Team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Libertys history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the
  • mission and values of the school.
  • Bachelors degree with teaching license program required mild/ moderate needs and/or affective needs.
  • Experience working with special needs students in the classroom setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and to effectively manage others.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Background in secondary school resource programs preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply the Exceptional Childrens Educational Act when making decisions regarding specialeducation services.
  • Knowledge of curricular content and instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of behavior and classroom management techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including PowerSchools administrative applications.
  • Understanding of LCHS education philosophy and mission.
  • Commitment to character education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with outside agencies and working within applicable laws and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
  • Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
  • Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers copiers and printers.
