Position Summary
The Department of Human and Community Renewal at Roosevelt University is committed to helping previously incarcerated citizens return in to community and family life. Through annual grants the Department of Human and Community Renewal contracts with the Illinois Department of Corrections to change the lives of offenders returning to Chicagos communities by offering educational and transitional services both inside and outside Illinois correctional facilities. The Personal and Career Development Instructor provides frontline service in workforce development training to offenders released from the Illinois Department of Corrections who are enrolled in the Life Skills Reentry Program. This position will provide instruction using a structured personal and career development curriculum involving cognitive restructuring and building job readiness skills while providing ongoing support and mentoring to participants as needed. This is a fulltime exempt position located on the Chicago Campus. This position reports to the Director for the Department of Human and Community Renewal.

Preferred Qualifications
Earned Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field such as sociology social work psychology vocational guidance or other field related to employment services. Experience in curriculum design development and implementation. Experience working with exoffender and/or underemployed populations. Prior instructional/ teaching experience in a social services environment. Previous experience working with the Illinois Department of Corrections IDOC is a plus.
