Parkland School Division (PSD) is a large progressive school jurisdiction serving Spruce Grove Stony Plain Fort Chipewyan and Parkland County. PSD meets the diverse educational needs of over 12000 rural and urban students among 23 sites including outreach schools and alternative education programs.

We are inviting candidates to apply to be a Principal in Parkland School Division. Shortlisted candidates will also be placed in a Principal Pool from which we will fill any current or future vacancies for theschool year. Upcoming Principalship Opportunities:

We are currently seeking candidates to apply for the following positions for theschool year:

Forest Green School

Situated in the heart of Stony Plain Alberta Forest Green School offers a nurturing familycentered environment for students from Kindergarten through Grade 6. With a student population of approximately 255 the schools intimate size fosters personalized relationships between students and staff ensuring each child feels recognized and valued.

The dedicated teaching staff employs a variety of instructional strategies tailored to meet the diverse learning styles of their students emphasizing both academic excellence and socialemotional development. The school has plans for expanded landbased programming working with local elders and knowledge keepers to identify valuable landbased experiences for students utilizing the Healing Garden situated behind the school as well as the vast forest area that borders part of the school property.

Forest Green is also one of three sites home to Parkland School Divisions STEPS Program. The STEPS Program prioritizes creating a safe and supportive classroom community. A team of school and communitybased specialists works together with the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to determine the students individual needs and then creates implements and monitors a plan of support intended to set the student on the path to success. This is a program designed for students with mental health needs who exhibit internalizing behaviours.

Prescott Learning Centre

Established in 2016 Prescott Learning Centre is a dynamic K9 school situated on the eastern side of Spruce Grove Alberta. Serving a diverse student body of over 860 the school is dedicated to fostering a studentcentered innovative and digital learning environment. At the core of Prescotts educational philosophy are values such as imagination creativity critical thinking communication engagement leadership empowerment respect and resiliency which collectively shape its vibrant school culture.

The school emphasizes the integration of technology through initiatives like the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for Grades 39 enhancing digital literacy and personalized learning experiences. A diverse complementary course program for Grades 69 offers students opportunities to explore various interests while the music program for K6 nurtures artistic expression. Prescott supports Middle Years sports teams in volleyball basketball running track & field and badminton promoting physical wellbeing and teamwork.

Prescott has identified four priority areas: literacy development numeracy development improved mental health and embracing diversity. These focus areas aim to enhance student growth and achievement wellbeing access to diverse learning opportunities and appreciation for diversity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional leadership to our teaching teams to support the continued development of engaging learning environments for students which includes effective assessment practices and activities that support student growth in Citizenship and Social Responsibility.

  • Collaborate with staff parents students and administrative teams from Parkland School Division to plan for the delivery of quality programs that are responsive to our students.

  • Manage and organize school routines and procedures that ensure a safe and caring school community.

  • Demonstrate creative visionary leadership that assists our school community to provide meaningful relevant educational opportunities.


Qualifications:

As the successful candidate you are a creative energetic and passionate leader with a Masters Degree in Education (or other related degree) valid Alberta teacher certification and Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certification (achieved in progress or willing to complete in the required timeline). You have previous administrative experience and a history of ongoing professional and personal development to support an instructional leadership role.

  • Integrity an open mind honesty and the courage to envision and enact change and enable others to do so.

  • Ability to articulate and inspire a shared vision throughout the Division.

  • Ability to be a collaborative member of a strong Division leadership team.

This position requires a current criminal record check and child intervention record check.

This position reports to the Superintendent of Schools. Your duties will commence on August 26 2025 with prior planning activities starting in midAugust 2025.
