Position Overview
The Assistant Principal of Instruction (API) is a dynamic school leader focused on improving instructional quality and student achievement. This role works in close partnership with the Principal to lead teacher development implement high-leverage academic systems and maintain a strong values-based school culture. The API is a key driver of academic excellence and a pipeline leader for future school leadership roles.
Instructional Leadership
Lead teacher coaching cycles classroom walkthroughs and data analysis to ensure high-quality Tier 1 instruction.
Oversee lesson internalization instructional planning and aligned use of curriculum.
Guide teachers in setting student achievement goals and support them in reaching benchmarks.
Teacher Coaching & Development
Manage and develop a portfolio of teachers with weekly 1:1 coaching and feedback.
Lead professional development sessions that support Promesas instructional priorities.
Identify and grow teacher leaders through leadership pipelines and succession planning.
Data-Driven Culture
Lead interim assessment planning analysis and re-teach plans.
Drive RTI/MTSS systems in collaboration with academic interventionists.
Support teams in identifying and closing academic gaps through intentional data use.
Culture & Operations Support
Uphold and reinforce school-wide expectations routines and systems.
Actively monitor school culture data (referrals attendance SEL concerns) and lead responsive action.
Serve as point person for instructional operations (assessment calendar walkthrough schedules etc.).
Performance Goals
Academic Growth: 80% % of students meeting/exceeding growth on stateassessments.
Student Achievement: 60% on grade level in Reading/Math
90% Teacher Retention
95% Student Retention
Qualifications
Bachelors degree required; Masters in Education or School Leadership preferred
3 years of successful K-8 classroom experience
Experience coaching teachers or leading grade-level/content teams
Deep knowledge of curriculum instruction and assessment practices
Passion for educational equity student success and culturally responsive pedagogy
$70000 - $90000 a year
