The Department of FirstYear & University Programs within the Office of Undergraduate Studies at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of parttime lecturers. Teaching responsibilities within FY&UP include 3unit firstyear seminars 1unit and 3unit academic resiliency and recovery courses and 1unit secondyear seminars all of which aim to 1 support students in their transition to the academic and social demands of collegeand 2 support students in the psychosocial development of self and community including the development of personal values and goals for college and career success. Candidates should have experience working directly with students.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A masters degree
  • Demonstrated ability in working with students to facilitate their transition from high school to college.
  • Per the California State Universitys OutofState Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSUrelated work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in education teaching and learning instruction and curriculum development or in the area of adult education.
  • Previous collegelevel teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students particularly firstgeneration students to facilitate their transition to the academic and social demands of college.
  • Understanding of CSU undergraduate general education requirements and ability to direct/guide students toward the necessary information/resources for developing an academic plan and career goals.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity inclusivity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • AnticipatedHiring Salary Range: $5007 $6359 per fulltime month

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary RangeLecturer A AY: $5007 $6359 per fulltime month
  • CSU Classification Salary RangeLecturer B AY: $5925 $12594 per fulltime month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience.

Applicant pools are used to fill shortterm temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an asneeded basis throughout the academic year. Applications in thispoolad will only be good for the current academic year. Thispoolwill be closed effective May 31st.
