the Role The Bachelor of Midwifery Program is seeking a qualified sessional theoretical instructor(s) to teach the following course(s). Ideally a single sessional clinical instructor will cover all listed courses. However we are open to working with the successful candidate to accommodate preferences including parttime appointments or multiple instructors if needed. 48 Student Instructional Contact Hours This course provides an overview of the history of midwifery in Canada and elsewhere an introduction to the philosophy and ethics of midwifery care and a preliminary discussion of current issues in midwifery roles and responsibilities. Students will also have an opportunity to observe midwives during professional activities. Venue: Inperson at the MRU Calgary Campus 3 hours weekly on Mondays from 08:30 am 1120 am 48 Student Instructional Contact Hours This course has two distinct foci: practice management and examination of the evidenceinforming practice. In this tutorial students will explore the role transition to registered practice and examine the research informing key components of midwifery care. These components will continue in Midwifery Clerkship II. Tutorials will be delivered using facetoface online or blended delivery. Venue: Online 3 hours weekly on Fridays from 11:30 am to 2:20 pm 48 Student Instructional Contact Hours This is a continuation of Midwifery Clerkship I in which the student continues to care for an identified caseload. At its completion the student will meet all the midwifery competencies for entry to practice. Students will have assigned clinical hours and oncall responsibilities. Venue: Online 3 hours weekly on Fridays from 09:00 am to 11:50 am Instruction: course delivery including lecture preparation/delivery course outline course activities lesson preparation and assessments and course Brightspace Learning Management System (D2L)site; Assessments: Written assignments quizzes tests group projects Administration: manage course documents and grading through the Brightspace D2L Learning Management Platform input final grades upon course completion. BMid contract faculty also referred to as sessional instructors must meet the following criteria: Graduate degree in midwifery or related field Minimum masters degree If the graduate degree is not in midwifery then an associate or bachelors degree in midwifery is required Five years of current fulltime midwifery experience Active registration with the College of Midwives of Alberta or another Canadian midwifery regulatory body May have inactive midwifery registration for a period up to two years if recently on leave (i.e. parental leave or retirement) from fulltime active midwifery practice Closing Date: Open until a suitable candidate is found A cover letter and resume should be submitted in one .pdf document.
