Works collaboratively with students staff and families to provide therapy and guidance counseling that promotes a positive school climate emphasizing support for students academic and socialemotional development.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Provides academic and socialemotional counseling to students and support team.
Collaborates with teachers administrators and families to address student needs and provide interventions.
Assists students with college and career planning including scholarship and financial aid guidance.
Provides consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues including classroom observation and appropriate service determination as appropriate.
Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality.
Enhances the awareness of mental health needs services and promotes community understanding of mental health. Enhances community response to mental health issues.
Assists teachers and students in overcoming schoolrelated problems that impede learning.
Assists in the interpretation of school and home policies programs and procedures for students parents staff and the community.
Remains available to students and teachers to provide assistance that will lead each student to improved social behavior selfunderstanding maturity and improved academic and vocational performance.
Works with students on an individual and group basis to solve educational and personal problems by developing sessions to support student wellbeing.
Interacts with various professionals and family members regarding individual student progress including participating in meetings and communicating progress setbacks and needs.
Promotes positive school culture and student engagement in academics and extracurricular activities.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication collaboration and student advocacy skills.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Ability to communicate in an articulate professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
Knowledge of the Boys Town Model.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in school counseling required.
Nebraska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in School Counseling and a Nebraska School Counseling Certification required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Nebraska licensure/certification in one of the following area(s): Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP PLMHP LIMHP) Certified Master Social Worker (CMSW) Clinical Social Work (CSW) Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Educational Psychologist or licensure (PLMHP MPHP LIMHP LCSW Licensed Psychologist) preferred.

Includes constant interruptions inappropriate behaviors and the potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
