About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Project Officer to work within the Park Systems and Operations team to contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment flora fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
We are looking for a Project Officer with system and data experience and a strategic approach to technology. The ability to identify acquire or build and implement technology solutions for small scale projects independently and contribute to large project as part of a team. Engage with data owners users and consumers to help ensure that metadata and governance requirements are met including for data warehouse and business intelligence systems.
NSW NPWS is part of Environment and Heritage in the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water. We manage over 7.6 million hectares of land across NSW including more than 895 national parks and reserves 4 World Heritagelisted sites a number of Australian National Heritage sites and Flora Reserves and 17 Ramsar wetlands. These protected areas play a critical role in conserving biodiversity as well as natural and cultural heritage.
They protect delicate ecosystems and habitat which is home to threatened native species. Certain sites provide shelter for a large and diverse collection of historic and cultural heritage. In other reserves we provide facilities such as picnic areas boardwalks and lookouts so you can enjoy these special areas.
About You
The role is required to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to ensure the system solutions meet the needs of NPWS. You will need to be adaptable and flexible in managing competing priorities in a demanding and complex work environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team committed to improving the NPWS systems to support conservation.
