Job Description

Lifesteps is excited to add a new service in the Western PA area. We are creating a team of staff to support pregnant moms and their child through their first 18 months of life.


We are immediately hiring a fulltime Maternal Health Specialist for Butler and Armstrong Counties. The position starts at the base office in Butler PA and then travels throughout the counties using a company vehicle.

Position Summary:

The Mother and Child Welfare Specialist works to assist mothers in scheduling and attending wellbaby appointments; assess infant and women care and home supports; monitor infant and pediatric developmental stages; and offer guidance education and referrals to parents as appropriate to achieve positive support outcomes through home visiting.

The Home Visitor position includes driving to the family home using an agencyprovided vehicle for check in visits which cover topics such as: expectant mother and newborn baby health education nutrition child growth and development postpartum wellness and wellbaby followups.

The Maternal Health Specialist also provides documentation and reports related to their case management for the MCOs and supervisors.

This position works Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:30pm with a vehicle provided.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Child Development Human Services Social Work Early Childhood Education (or a related field such as Family Relations Sociology Womens Studies etc) OR a High School Diploma plusa homebased CDA credential or comparable credential.
  • Demonstrate competency to plan and implement homebased learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote childrens progress.
  • Knowledge in infant/toddler development/education/health/nutrition/safety as well as family dynamics and adult learning principles.
  • Must be able to secure within 90 days of hire and maintain the basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification. (provided by Lifesteps)
  • Demonstrated ability to complete basic computer tasks or Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Current drivers license and the ability to travel for business
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Preferred:

  • 1 year experience in Early Education Early Childhood Development Children Services Social Work Womens Health Case Management Wellness Educator Community Health Advocate or related field
  • Previous experience as a Teacher Aide Child Care Assistant Social Worker or other similar roles is helpful.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
