PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring salary: $25.00 $31.25/hour
Salary to be commensurate with experience
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on specialized golf course equipment and systems
- Makes minor and major repairs to equipment and golf carts after testing and troubleshooting issues
- Sharpens specialized cutting/trimming equipment that is critical to offering high quality conditions
- Maintains accurate records related to operation maintenance and repair of equipment
- Maintains accurate inventory of parts and supplies
- Oversees required fuel records
- Performs welding and fabrication on projects as needed
- May assist maintenance staff in general golf course maintenance activities
- May act as lead worker and/or weekend supervisor overseeing temporary/seasonal staff
- Participates in citywide snow removal program
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- 2 years experience in the operation maintenance and repair of specialized golf course equipment sharpening specialized cutting/trimming equipment and use of computerized controls and diagnostic procedures. Experience with similar equipment outside the golf industry will be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in the operation maintenance and repair of specialized golf course equipment.
Knowledge:
- Awareness that the customer experience must be the priority for us to be successful
- Understanding that as a government employee it is our job to serve the public
- Awareness of the importance of treating everyone with equal respect and kindness
- Knowledge of methods techniques tools equipment procedures record keeping and best practices associated with specialized golf course equipment repair and maintenance.
- Welding and metal fabrication practices
- Knowledge of applicable safety related requirements practices and procedures
- Basic understanding of computers and traditional software used for record keeping ordering etc.
- Knowledge about the game of golf for safety reasons and customer service
Skills:
- Skilled in use of tools specialized equipment methods computers software and best practices associated with golf course equipment repair and maintenance
Abilities:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of organization
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Assist with overseeing a diverse temporary/seasonal work force in a respectful and inclusive manner
- Take the initiative to identify and resolve problems and help resolve conflict situations in a calm manner
- Read detailed instructions diagrams schematics and maintain detailed logs and records
- Ability to work varied hours including weekends evenings and holidays
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Colorado Commercial Drivers License with airbrake endorsement within 12 months of employment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel
Physical Demands:
- Medium Work that involves repetitive lifting/moving of objects no more than 50 pounds without assistance
- Heavy Work that involves repetitive lifting/moving of objects more than 50 pounds with assistance
- Frequent walking standing lifting/carrying heavy objects pushing pulling crouching and kneeling
- Speech communication to provide technical information and communicate with employees and citizens
- Hearing for troubleshooting and warning signals
- Vision to read instruments gauges reports manuals records and record data
- Hand/foot/eye coordination for operating computers maintenance equipment golf carts motor vehicles and performing other duties
Work Environment:
- Works indoors and outdoors with exposure to dust noise chemicals sun and other conditions found in an outdoor environment
- May work in a confined space at times
Equipment Used:
- Operates computers tools equipment and vehicles common to golf course maintenance operations
- This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle cell phone tools etc. in the course of their employment
