Forestry Superintendent
The Forestry Superintendent provides crew supervision and is responsible for managing and executing forestry projects. In addition the Superintendent is responsible to supervise and assist in the proper maintenance preparation and operation of all tools and equipment including hand tools chainsaws chippers and heavy machinery.
Location: Projects will be located throughout the SW US.
Travel: 5075 but may be up to 100 depending on the project assignment. Lodging and per diem provided as well as adequate time off for rest.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Scheduling resources (people and equipment) on multiple projects making adjustments as needed.
Project management to include equipment mobilization/demobilization fuel and equipment rental needs production reporting GPS verification and billing approval.
Daily reporting to senior management and CORs.
Monitor and approve attendance and productivity of the crew.
Supervise and train crews on the safe operation of heavy equipment.
Operate Markit!s heavy forestry equipment as appropriate for each project.
Perform chainsaw felling operations including directional felling limbing and bucking.
Manage slash operations including lopandscatter chipping and hauling.
Perform road work excavation lifting work site cleanup etc.
Control erosion by contour felling and LEB creation and installation.
Responsible for completing and submitting proper daily and/or weekly inspections and maintenance on assigned machine(s) requesting any necessary repairs/maintenance from the Fleet Department.
Assist Estimation Department in estimating rates of production for bids and proposals.
Perform minor equipment repairs/maintenance as necessary.
Adhere to Markit!s Safety Standards and promote safety culture among crew members including the proper use of machinery and equipment and resolve problems when they arise.
Conduct one to two random maintenance inspections on your jobsite fleet per month.
Prepare to spend multiple overnights at remote project sites in RV trailer/campers or hotels as applicable.
General forestry labor as necessary and appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in operating heavy machinery.
An Associate degree in Horticulture Forestry Arboriculture or a closely related field and 1 year ofsupervisory experience or
Two years of experience supervising and/or participating in the professional care and maintenance oftrees including planting trimming and removing trees. Qualifying experience should demonstrateproficiency with the operation of tree maintenance equipment i.e. chainsaws pole pruners axes aeriallift trucks brush and log chippers stump cutters dump trucks and other related equipment or
An equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must possess a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
Must pass preemployment background check and drug screen.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Excellent communication and rapport skills.
Have the ability and desire to perform strenuous outdoor work on rough terrain in a variety of inclement weather conditions.
Quick and able learner with strong leadership skills and a keen eye for details and good decisionmaking and problemsolving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and stress and handle emergency situations.
Effectively complete work projects on time.
Ability to utilize safety procedures.
Physical ability to bend squat and lift up to 75 pounds.
At least 3 years of experience in operating heavy machinery.
Language:
English required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Compensation: $80000 to $110000 per year dependent on qualifications and experience.
