Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an Engineer with a passion for building highperformance low maintenance zerodowntime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission while cocreating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Description
Our Engineer I is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to collaboratively design creative solutions to complex problems. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering highquality technology products and services in a hypergrowth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has an understanding of Identity and Access control policy platform and can leverage their skills to deliver enterprise network security services.
Position Responsibilities
As an Engineer I you will:
- Ensure the confidentiality integrity and availability of information and information systems
- Test and implement new or reengineered network services security applications and platform solutions
- Provide daily support and perform maintenance tasks for security infrastructure components
- Collaborate with members of other infrastructure and applications teams to implement maintain and troubleshoot GEICOs security infrastructure systems
- Triage analyze and perform root cause analysis for security and networkrelated issues
- Provide 24x7 after hours oncall support and support for offhour implementations as needed
- Publish documentation for runbooks asbuilts and design references
- Understand and promote network standards reference architectures and frameworks
Qualifications
- Work independently and as part of a larger group comprised of different technical and business areas
- Strong foundation in algorithms data structures and core computer science concepts
- Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Understanding networking and network components including subnets DMZs routers switches and firewalls
- Awareness of the general cyber security threat landscape including common vulnerabilities exploits social engineering and malware
- Familiarity with VB script PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Knowledge of common application architectures and communications protocols is desired
- Strong problemsolving ability
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to excel in a fastpaced startuplike environment
- Strong coding skills with the ability to produce high quality code that is reusable and repeatable without being overly complex
- Wellrounded experiences outside of the classroom with different technologies resulting in projects that demonstrate strong engineering skills and abilities
Experience
- Professional experience on collaboration platforms that support hybrid and cloud calling voicemail video meetings messaging and events or internship experience
Education
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary
$55000.00 $150000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include but are not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the role the selected candidates work experience education and training the work location as well as market and business considerations.
