Job Description

Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service health wellness social justice residential living food services sports recreation career services and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25000 undergraduate graduate and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

Cornell Healths more than 200 employees collaborate to provide integrated and culturallysensitive mental health medical health promotion public health student accommodations and occupational medicine care and services. Dually focused on holistic health of Cornell students and wellbeing of the larger campus community the unit supports readiness to learn to participate fully in the Cornell experience and to achieve academic work and life success. Cornell Health is nationally recognized for innovation and leadership and is committed to an ongoing journey toward integrated costeffective and communitybased services and campus health initiatives.

The Skorton Center for Health Initiatives promotes a healthy campus environment and community through institutional leadership educational initiatives research and evaluation and public engagement. The Skorton Centers core focus areas are the promotion of student mental health and wellbeing and the prevention of suicide alcohol and other drug misuse sexual violence hazing and bias. Throughout its work the Skorton Center prioritizes health equity and student wellbeing.

The Wellbeing Coaching Program Director will lead the development implementation and evaluation of a campuswide Motivational Interviewing (MI)based Wellbeing Coaching Program. The program will promote holistic flourishing and the personal and professional growth of undergraduate graduate and professional students through culturally responsive strengthsbased and nonclinical coaching services. The program director will oversee all aspects of program operations including training supervision research and campus collaboration while leading and supporting a growing interdisciplinary team of parttime coaches comprised of existing professional staff across the university. They will ensure program effectiveness through evidencebased practices staff development and interdisciplinary collaboration aligning with healthpromoting campus principles and fostering a supportive culture of wellbeing.

This position collaborates with colleagues in Cornell Health across the university and within the community to promote and evaluate wellbeing initiatives through a comprehensive and collaborative approach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Counseling Psychology Clinical Psychology Social Work or a related field with significant relevant experience.
  • Active licensure as a mental health provider (e.g. psychologist clinical social worker).
  • Certification as a Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) member or active pursuit and completion of certification within one year of hire.
  • Proven leadership and operational expertise in managing training and leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong skills in designing implementing and evaluating evidencebased healthpromoting training programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and tact in managing program scope and alignment with nonclinical approaches.
  • Proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word Excel Bookings) SPSS and a willingness to research and adopt new platforms to enhance program operations.
  • Proficiency in research design data analysis and program evaluation.
  • Commitment to equity and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and experience in Motivational Interviewing (MI) evidencebased coaching personcentered approaches and cultural responsiveness.
  • Experience in health promotion prevention and settingsbased wellbeing approaches in higher education.
  • Demonstrated skill in translating relevant research and theory into practice.
  • Proficiency in program evaluation using mixedmethods to assess process impact and outcomes.
  • Proven record of scholarly contributions through publications or conference presentations.
