Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit animal
welfare or related field.
Job Duties:
For more than 50 years the Saskatoon SPCA has been a cornerstone of compassion
dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of animals in our community. While the
organization has evolved over the years its commitment to animal welfare adoption
education and advocacy remains steadfast fostering a more compassionate world for
vulnerable animals in our community.
As a leader in responsible pet ownership education and animal welfare advocacy the
Saskatoon SPCA spearheads communitydriven initiatives that support both pets and
their owners. Through a comprehensive range of services the Saskatoon SPCA works
to ensure that every animal has the opportunity for a second chance at life in a loving
home while empowering the community with the knowledge and resources needed to
provide responsible care.
The Saskatoon SPCA provides the following services to support pets and pet owners in
the community:
Adoption Services Providing safe shelter sustenance health care (including
vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries) to abandoned surrendered or
neglected animals in our care.
Accessible Training Programs Training classes are designed to help pet
owners build strong positive relationships via certified professional dog trainers
who use scientifically backed positive reinforcement methods
Education & Community Outreach Promoting responsible pet ownership
humane treatment and the benefits of adoption while actively addressing pet
overpopulation through awareness campaigns spay/neuter advocacy and
community engagement initiatives.
Foster and Volunteer Opportunities Engaging the community by providing
meaningful opportunities for individuals to support animal care and welfare
through handson involvement fostering shelter support advocacy and
outreach initiatives.
About the Executive Director
We are seeking a passionate visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead our
organization into the next chapter of growth and success. The Executive Director will
play a key role in expanding education and advocacy for the humane treatment of
animals enhancing donor and corporate sponsorship engagement to increase revenue
strengthening financial sustainability through innovative fundraising and partnerships
and leading a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision: Provide overall leadership for the SPCA ensuring
alignment with the mission vision and core values. Collaborate with the Board of
Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan for organizational growth and
impact.
Advocacy & Policy Influence: Develop relationships with key decision makers
and advocate for local and provincial policies that improve animal welfare.
Financial Management: Oversee the financial health of the organization
including budgeting financial planning and ensuring sustainability through
diversified funding streams. Lead fundraising efforts and build relationships with
donors foundations and sponsors.
Team Management: Lead mentor and support a passionate team promoting
professional development and a positive organizational culture. Foster a
collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
Programs and Operations: Oversee the operational effectiveness of SPCA
programs and services ensuring they are delivered in a costeffective and high
quality manner. Develop and implement new initiatives that advance animal
welfare.
Community Engagement: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the
organization representing the SPCA at public events with stakeholders and
within the community. Build and maintain relationships with partners funders
community leaders and government agencies.
Crisis Management & Risk Mitigation: As a nonprofit leader create a
comprehensive crisis management plan and develop a risk mitigation framework
for the organization.
Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure
effective governance regular communication and the achievement of strategic
goals. Provide regular updates on the organizations performance and key
initiatives.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit animal
welfare or related field.
Proven track record of successful leadership including strategic planning
financial management and team building.
Experience with fundraising donor relations and securing grants.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
including donors board members volunteers and the community.
A deep passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the Saskatoon SPCAs
mission.
Bachelors degree preferred in a related discipline.
Familiarity with nonprofit laws and regulations.
