Job Description
University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors is seeking aHVAC Estimatorfor our Southern California offices.Backed by the strength and stability that comes with almost a century of customer care and ownership UMEC adheres to the highest safety standards for its employees and clients. UMEC offers industryleading building information modeling (BIM) capabilities design/build services sustainable solutions commercial HVAC services and complex mechanical and industrial system installations.
HVAC estimator is responsible for all phases of the estimating and bidding process including preconstruction services and performing estimate takeoffs. Thorough knowledge of the mechanical construction bidding processes is required. Specific expertise with HVAC systems serving healthcare (HCAI) hotels student housing laboratories power plants Cogeneration facilities manufacturing facilities and higher education facilities is desired. Ability to produce a complete detailed estimate from incomplete design documents is preferred.
Compensation Range: $86000 to $115000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Bid document review prebid meetings client interface mechanical system sizing and layout from incomplete bid documents quantity takeoff material equipment and subcontractor pricing spreadsheet input and proposal preparation. Estimates will be prepared using Autobid estimating software. Experience with Autobid or other onscreen estimating software is also desired. Duties also include on site and/or Inhouse estimating where candidate will work with professionals in design firms on designassist and designbuild projects to direct the design to meet the budget. Estimator will also interface with UMECs construction project teams and CAD detailing staff. Must have knowledge regarding safety workers compensation insurance and bonding materials as it pertains to bidding requirements. Other duties may be assigned.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in MS Word MS Excel Bluebeam MS Outlook and Autobid piping and sheet metal estimating systems.

- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

- Must effectively manage time and details.
- Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
- Must have organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data.
- Must comply with all operating policies procedures plans and programs
Prefer a minimum of 35 years mechanical construction experience and proficiency in the preparation of large and complex bid proposals of all types.
JOB LOCATION
This is not a remote position but you are able to work at either our San Diego or Anaheim office location.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of employees clients vendors and suppliers.
