Reports to:Director of Military & Veterans Services

Olympic College is seeking to hire a fulltime classified Program Specialist 2 within our Military & Veterans Department. This position assists in creating and implementing strategies associated with securing new student enrollments for militaryaffiliated students. This position will provide highquality services and support in a friendly fastpaced customerfocused environment. The Program Specialist 2 will serve as a central point of contact handling general to complex inquiries transactions and customer service questions primarily facetoface email eChat other webbased methods and outbound service calls for Military & Veteran Programs. The Program Specialist 2 will also handle complex crossdepartmental student issues related to Admissions Financial Aid and Registration and Records and will work in an environment of teamwork to facilitate resolution for students and departments considering the circumstances involved. The Program Specialist 2 will provide information and technical assistance to program participants staff and outside entities regarding program content policies and activities and promote the program with outside organizations and resources.

Essential Functions

  • Provides information and technical assistance to military affiliated students staff and public on steps to enrollment and completion of educational goal per policies and recommends course of action.
  • Monitors program activities in relation to established goals within established program parameters determines variances from program standards. Have extensive contact with prospective and current military affiliated students providing the highest level of customer service facetoface virtually email eChat texting other webbased methods and phone calls regarding information and interpretation of college policies and activities related to enrolling at the college.
    • Direct the enrollment process from inquiry through admissions enrollment financial aid/FAFSA Student Accounts and graduation processes.
    • Process/update Student Records by processing student forms documents and other information necessary to complete transactions and procedures.
    • Assist students in using and understanding class catalog and class schedules.
    • Interpret and ensure confidentiality of customer information following federal FERPA and financial aid guidelines and college regulations.
    • Handle complex crossdepartmental student issues and work to facilitate resolution for students and departments within established guidelines.
    • Recognize when student issue should be referred to a department outside the Military and Veterans Programs and assist with that appropriate referral with a warm handoff is possible. This includes distressed students to Counseling.
    • Have campus wide knowledge of offerings departments and resources in order to efficiently assist or refer students staff and public.
    • Confers with coworkers and other departments regarding the interpretation and implementation of program policies; participates in identifying areas for program development.
    • Meet established goals for college enrollment.
  • Provide information and assistance on VA Education Benefits FAFSA completion financial aid requirements funding resources payment deadlines and assist students in resolving barriers evaluating alternatives and determining payment options.
    • Assist students in understanding VA Education Benefits DOD Education Benefits Student Account balances tuition payment obligations options and deadlines and inform students of college collection policies and procedures.
    • Facilitate FAFSA completion both one on one and workshops in person and virtually.
    • Determine and explain financial aid requirements ISIR information Bio/Demo mismatch multiple checklist items etc.
    • Assist students with campus and community resources to support students.
    • Explain Nelnet Payment Plan and deadlines.
    • Explain required VA/DOD Education paperwork; provide assistance to students navigating the New Student Checklist

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Or equivalent education & experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Familiarity with Military & Veterans programs
  • Familiarity with FERPA

Terms of Employment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

This is a fulltime classified position scheduled to work XX hours a week with a salary range of$43716 $58380annually.All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
