Reasonable Accommodation Specialist Human Resource Consultant 4

Were seeking a Reasonable Accommodation Specialist to join our team where you will provide consultation on reasonable accommodation and manage the processes for all open RA cases for the Department of Social and Health Services staff.

As a Reasonable Accommodation Specialist you will provide professionallevel consultation and guidance to appointing authorities administrators managers supervisors and employees on a wide variety of sensitive complex issues involved with the Reasonable Accommodation case from intake to closure. You will provide technical assistance on reasonable accommodation requests and assist in responding to complaints related to reasonable accommodation cases.

We are looking for a team member who will provide effective consultation while efficiently managing competing priorities. You will be exhibiting superior customer service have exceptional organizational skills excellent attention to detail and be comfortable working independently.

To be successful in this role youll need to be detailoriented exhibit exceptional organizational and time management skills and be flexible in your thinking. Youll have the ability to work as part of a larger team and provide support to multiple managers and employees.


This job allows for a telework schedule. Theres inoffice work as needed for meetings training mailing and other business needs.

Some of what youll do

  • Facilitate the interactive reasonable accommodation process for an assigned area serving as a resource to management and employees.
  • Provide technical assistance in the interpretation of Title 1 of the Americans with Disabilities Act 1993; RCW 49.60 Washington Law Against Discrimination; Section 504 Rehabilitation Act 1973; DSHS Administrative Policy 18.26; and Reasonable Accommodation and the Reasonable Accommodation Process Guidelines for managers and supervisors.
  • Facilitate consultations and meetings and keep detailed records documenting the process for each case.
  • Identify resources for reasonable accommodation aids and devices. Assist with efforts to obtain and interpret medical documentation.
  • Manage a caseload of reasonable accommodation requests to accommodate employees in their current position or to an alternative position.
  • Conduct Reasonable Accommodation training.
  • Work cooperatively and positively to facilitate an interactive process answer questions resolve technical issues and concerns.
  • Recognize and bring forward issues that may create liability for the agency.
    Assist in drafting responses to complaints and grievances related to reasonable accommodation cases.
  • Manage a large caseload track and respond to timelines balance priorities be wellversed in applicable regulations.
  • Maintain documentation and record of the entire process in accordance with established service delivery standards.


What were looking for
Professionals with a bachelors degree with a focus on business human resources social or organizational behavioral sciences or related field and three years of broadbased professional human resource experience including facilitating organizational development or change and advising and consulting on human resource issues.

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
