Ipswich High School is a leading independent school in Suffolk proudly educating hundreds of pupils between the ages of 3 18. Based on a beautiful 87 acre campus five miles outside of Ipswich the school has long enjoyed a high profile across the region for its academic success and superb pastoral care.
We seek a suitably qualified experienced House Parent to run the outstanding boarding house from September 2025.
As the successful candidate you will have experience of running a boarding house either as a Housemistress / Housemaster or Assistant Housemistress / Housemaster and will have a deep understanding of and commitment to pastoral care. They will also be a highly capable teacher and contribute fully to the full and varied extracurricular aspects of the school.
This job could be suitable for a couple who both have experience in boarding and schools.
You will:
- have excellent communication and organisational skills
- have proven ability to form professional relationships with children
- have a sympathetic and understanding approach with a good sense of humour
- support the housemistress by ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of all boarders
- ensure the smooth running of the domestic and laundry systems for the house
- have understanding and empathy
- have the ability to balance a friendly disposition with the need to promote the highest standards of behaviour and discipline.
Supervisory skills would be an advantage as she/he will be supervising the domestic staff and leading some duty boarding staff.
This rewarding role provides school accommodation all year round for the successful candidate and meals during term time.
