ArcelorMittal is looking for a: Trace Policy Specialist

The Trade policy government affairs specialist is responsible to protect and advance the companys interests in EU trade policy matters involving governments public authorities and influencers of their decisions and actions. He/she will engage and coordinate with country managers of EU countries where ArcelorMittal has representation to ensure that the Company priorities are also raised at local government level. He/she has also the responsibility to raise internal awareness on Trade policy issues through early warning systems with country managers and segments representatives.

So what youll do

  • Timely inform segments business units and country managers of new Trade related policy regulatory and legislative developments at national and/or regional level and provide thorough analysis of potential impact on the business of these policy initiatives.
  • Engage in a sustainable matter with key governmental stakeholders (e.g. European Commission MEPs Permanent Representations national governments/administrations) and relevant associations. Devise and ensure the implementation of dedicated action plans regarding government/international trade related issues with a potential impact on the business; in particular trade defence policy and instruments.
  • Engage with and provide guidance to country managers/government affairs managers for the countries where we have representation in the EU Member States sharing best practices coordinating international support when the local challenge requires it and ensuring that their lobbying priorities are aligned with the overall business interest.
  • Develop company positions & coordinate the development and implementation of advocacy plans at European level. This involves the collection of data from business to build arguments to defend the Companys interests.
  • Close cooperation with other teams within the Company (Commercial legal strategy etc. to ensure consistent message and tapping all relevant sources.
  • Identify relevant external stakeholders and engage with business units and corporate teams to establish an effective outreach strategy.
  • Represent the company in different type of associations and industry platforms (e.g. EUROFER ERT etc. contributing to their advocacy work positioning the companys priorities.
  • Engage with policymakers to represent and defend the Companys interests and involve midlevel to senior Company representatives.
  • Prepare briefings for (senior) management for their internal and external engagement on government affairs issues.
  • Support internal data collection and monitoring efforts including for legal disclosure and reporting purposes.
  • Proactively position the Company in key policy debates through targeted events speaking opportunities sponsorships;
  • Ensure a favourable organisational climate through the adoption of motivational practices communication and integration;
  • Ensure the implementation of processes fair treatment and good interpersonal relations according to climate management action plans;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education / Qualification: Master similar degrees

Subject: Law Economics Human science Business communications international commerce or International Relations degree

Language: English and French at advanced level

Requirements:

  • Law Economics Human science Business communications or International Relations degree.
  • Experience on public affairs Economics or law with capacity to network and establish long and durable relations with many different partners and government members. Strong understanding of companys issues priorities and interests.
  • Flexibility to be involved on diverse topics at technical level such as environment climate change trade compliance steel making process and mining; as well as to be in disposition to learn about new areas where lobbing positions might be required.
  • Travel Required:Regular 30 approx).
