Job Description

Role Impact:

To maintain all building equipment at optimum performance levels and ensure the building is kept in top condition in order to meet the requirements and expectations of clients for a fully functioning facility.

This is a unionized position therefore applications from internal bargaining unit members will be considered before external applications.

What you will deliver:

  • Perform tasks outlined by the work orders generated by the Scheduled and Unscheduled Maintenance Program or responds to tenant service requests in a professional workmanlike and timely manner.
  • Monitor and control all related equipment to ensure that comfortable conditions are maintained throughout the Centre and that all equipment is operating as per design specifications.
  • Monitor the Computerized building environmental control computer and respond to alarms in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of all of the components of the Refrigeration and Heating Plant equipment.
  • Affect appropriate changes to the environmental control system as directed by the Chief Engineer or Manager of Mechanical Systems.
  • Report all known problems that relate to the building controls and mechanical systems to the Chief Engineer and other engineering staff by completing the daily log each shift worked.
  • Read and keep updated with the information listed in the Engineers Logbook at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Collect test and add chemicals to the chilled secondary heating and condenser water to control corrosion and bacterial levels.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks in a timely manner in conjunction with work orders assigned by the Chief Engineer Assistant Chief Engineer and Centre Management.
  • Report all deficiencies to equipment to the Chief Engineer Assistant Chief Engineer or Centre Management. In the event equipment is considered to be essential will affect or direct immediate repairs as required.
  • Isolate and drain chilled water condenser water sprinkler fire riser steam riser and domestic water systems for contractors building plumbers and mechanics to perform maintenance on systems and refills same.
  • Participate in all training activities planned by Cadillac Fairview Corporation.
  • Take appropriate upgrade courses to remain current on all new equipment and to keep abreast of changes in technology relating to Pacific Centre.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Centre Management

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum 5th Class Power Engineers Certificate;
  • Thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures current technology electrical/mechanical systems and blueprint reading & comprehension;
  • Must have working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations;

This is a unionized position and pay rates are set out in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
