Job Description

Required Education:Bachelors Degree in a Biological Science Chemistry or Physical Science or related fieldAND:

  • 12 months research laboratory experience.

Equivalency/Substitution:Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelors Degree for a total of 60 months research experience or an Associates Degree and 24 months research experience for a total of 36 months experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal multitasking and problemsolving skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to analyze data and keep records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

The Health Promotion Research Center is looking for a Staff Research Assistant to work on a variety of research projects involving physical activity mindfulness and wellness promotion in the context of supportive cancer care among adult patient populations. This position entails serving as the first point of contact for participants at the HPRC. Primary duties include participant recruitment communicating with study participants conducting data collection record keeping logistics management data analyses report preparation development of study intervention materials for a mobile application (app) development platform and more. The Staff Research Assistant will work directly with the principal investigators as well as with other study personnel clinicians and other researchers to accomplish the aims of various study projects. There will also be ample opportunities to contribute to scientific publications.

THIS IS NOT A BIOMEDICAL/BENCH SCIENCE LAB POSITION.

Duties:

  • Recruitment and Patient Interfacing.Work directly with patients caregivers and study participants. Perform chart reviews of electronic health records to identify patients who are potentially eligible to participate in research studies. Recruit and engage in the informed consent process with patients from outpatient oncology clinics. Contact adult patients in clinic and/or over the phone. Followup with active participants as needed.
  • Data Collection.Complete informed consent procedures with study participants. Collects various forms of data (e.g. in person questionnaires smartphonebased questionnaires) pertaining to smartphone and tabletbased research projects.Assist participants with operating study equipment (e.g. accelerometers consumer wearable physical activity trackers).
  • Data Management. Meticulously execute study protocols for data collection and management. Adhere to established procedures for data security and confidentiality. Maintain study databases and project documentation with organization and accuracy. Maintain clear concise and consistent logs of reported issues and work performed.
  • Logistics Management.Schedule participant assessments and study sessions and mail study materials. Call participants as needed for study communications.
  • Record Keeping.Meticulously follows study protocols. Maintains clear concise and consistent logs of reported issues and work performed.
  • Research.Conduct research and laboratory analysis for research staff to include but not limited to measuring and weighing compounds and solutions isolating identifying and preparing specimens collecting samples and other research information including; Mobile Health research psychology research and cancerrelated research.
  • Data Analysis.Conduct data analysis interprets data draws conclusion and discusses data analyses with principal investigator.
  • Report Preparation.Prepares various reports containing descriptive analytical and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication.Prepare timely reports of potential adverse events and relay information to the appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Collaboration.Collaborate with research team membersand assists with coordination preparation and documentation of projectrelated meetings as needed. Manage collaboration with vendors for projectrelated tasks.
  • Material Presentation.Present study updates and other research materials to the principal investigator other team members and at local and national conferences.
  • Content Creation.Assist the study team in refining physical activity and supportive carerelated mobile app content for patients including physical activityrelated and acceptance and mindfulnessbased content.
  • As Needed.Conduct literature reviews for planned and ongoing studies as requested.Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.Assist with development of PowerPoint presentations and formatting for manuscript development.
