About the service:
The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport Burnie and Outer Hobart are cofunded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.
The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peerled recovery and clinical support.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress allowing them to:
Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community

Role Overview:
The Community Engagement Coordinator seeks opportunities to reach out to people with mental health issues and the communities that support them to provide health education raise mental health literacy and community awareness and link people to appropriate services.
You will develop facilitate and evaluate a range of community events and health and education programs designed to improve mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by people with mental illness in order to increase early identification and help them to get early access to appropriate services.
You will work closely with our clinical team to understand the services that Medicare Mental Health Centreprovides to advocate our services to the wider community.
