Location: Kelowna BC (Downtown Youth Centre)
BGC Okanagan is looking for a qualified applicant for the Reconnect program located in the Central Okanagan. The successful candidate is responsible for providing outreach services onetoone support referral and parent mediation for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
We can provide:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiates contact with youth and identify at risk and highrisk youth. Meets with clients and assesses their suitability for services offered by the programs. Makes referrals to other programs agencies and/or community resources.
Assists clients to adapt to and maintain a life off the streets by providing guidance and emotional support. Monitors their wellbeing and provides feedback and support to families of clients.
Recognizes and analyzes potential emergency situations and develops strategies to deal with them. Managers clients aggressive behaviors to minimize harm to client the public or worker.
Assists clients in obtaining success with resources and treatments. Assists clients to obtain temporary or permanent housing either directly or in coordination with other community services. Provides information that helps clients to make betterinformed choices.
Advocates for youth and assists them in selfadvocacy.
Reviews clients progress and makes reports regarding their daily activities and progress.
Liaises with other agencies professionals ministry staff and the community.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of Agency screening process including criminal record check.
This position is open to internal applicants only.
This position requires union membership.
Hours: 35 hours per week: Monday to Friday 9:00 am 5:00 pm
Rate of Pay: $36.06 per hour
