Overview

RiverView Health is a community owned membership based nonprofit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston MN.

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

Position: Patient Access Representative

Location: Crookston Main Clinic Emergency Dept
Schedule: PRN (OnCall)
Clinic hours: MondayFriday 7 AM 7 PM

Pay Range: $20.15 $28.21

Job Status: NonExempt/Hourly nonbenefitted position

River View Health has an opening for a PRN as needed Patient Access Representative Main Clinic / Emergency Department. This position would cover shifts between 7am 7pm. in our Crookston location and may have a weekend rotation (flexible hours and shifts based on need).

The Patient Access Representative:

  • Answers phones and schedules patients for initial of followup appointments.
  • Greets and registers patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families physicians nurses and insurance companies.
  • Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility.
  • Performs point of service collection of copays and other patient liability.
  • Obtains signatures for all necessary documents.
  • Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures.
  • This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum two 2 years of customer service experience
  • Ability to sit stand or walk for long periods of time

Preferred:

  • Experience in health care setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Patient Access and/or Epic
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology insurance
