The Karlup Service will provide a range of offerings from the Angela Wright Bennett Centre (AWBC) a stateoftheart purposebuilt facility in Perths CBD.
The Karlup Service Women Children & Young Person Counselling Offering recognises that the health and wellbeing of children and young people who have experienced family and domestic violence either directly or as witnesses to the abuse of their mother is significantly impacted. Children and young people growing up in homes where there is FDV are more vulnerable to other forms of abuse such as neglect sexual abuse and physical abuse. They are also more likely to be perpetrators or victims of FDV in adulthood.
As a member of a multidisciplinary team the Counsellor will create safety for the woman child or young person by building trust and providing a safe place to explore their experiences and express their emotions. The Counsellor will support women children and young people to address behaviours and beliefs that may indicate they are vulnerable to becoming victims or perpetrators of family and domestic violence in the future.
