Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4608 $4838 per month
Full CSU Classification Salary Range:$4608 $7998 per month
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical dental and vision plans membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) sick and vacation time and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
Under general supervision by the Chair of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences the Instructional Support Technician (IST II) is expected to provide comprehensive support services to the department disciplines which make extensive use of materials supplies and equipment in both undergraduate and graduate laboratories and instructional courses.
The interdisciplinary nature of the geosciences requires this individual to primarily work collaboratively with students and faculty within and outside our department. The incumbent must also be organized an excellent communicator and able to keep detailed and comprehensive records (e.g. safety training instrument operational procedures equipment usage logs).
The primary purpose of this position is to implement a full range of assignments that support the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Projects require an increased depth of knowledge of EES an understanding of laboratory techniques and methods choosing suitable materials for related instructional needs and the ability to operate and perform routine maintenance of scientific lab and field equipment.

Department Summary
The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) prepares students to pursue a broad range of careers in academia industry government and teaching by providing them with educational training and the indoor and outdoor opportunities to obtain a solid foundation in the Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The Earth and Environmental Sciences are interdisciplinary integrating principles of physics chemistry biology and mathematics as well as quantitative and critical thinking skills to address geological and environmental challenges. Our small closeknit department gives students the chance to get to know faculty personally and every student has the opportunity to conduct research or complete an internship before they graduate. Our program emphasizes field and laboratory investigations of the environment and its geological context and history. Over 18 courses include field trips where we take advantage of the universitys proximity to the Sierra Nevada the California Coast Ranges coastal California and the desert provinces. Our unique location gives faculty and students access to an unparalleled outdoor laboratory all within short trips from the university.
